a boy's passion...

photo Matt Roberts

It seems very trite to write about an Art Exhibition knowing a family at Kurrawa Beach in Queeensland was living a most awful, awful tragedy.
but I've just heard the statement by young Matt Barclay's parents,
and admire them enormously.
his parents have said how distressed they are, at the criticism of Surf Life Saving, and that they do not blame anyone....." we want the whole of Australia to get behind Surf Life Saving and help build it up, not tear it down.
Matt was our beloved son, and a proud ambassador for Surf Life Saving."

as a parent, I stand beside you as you steadfastly, bravely, honour the passion and the life of your son.

there just is no answer to the 'why'....my thoughts are with you.

Camberwell Rotary Art Show 2012

Would you like to hear my news? I knew you would!

Well here goes....I was very excited to be asked to be a 'Feature Artist'
at the Camberwell Rotary Art Show.

'The Camberwell', as it's known thru'out Australia,
is a very prestigious, long-running (currently in its 46th year)
art exhibition with over $55,000 in prizes and awards.

I spoke about this Show last year....it's a favourite of mine......but much more so  now!

this show receives literally thousands of entries
from all over Australia, and just to succeed
in being 'hung' is a terrific honour... but to 'feature' !!!  :)

but that's not all!

not only was I asked to be a  'Feature Artist' ....
with all my work at the very front,
prime position as you enter, and all hung together
with my bio and press info for everyone to see,
but it gets better!

.....I won an Award!

.....Highly Commended .....for this painting.

it's not just blue.....

The Great Ocean Road
Victoria, Australia
looking towards Apollo Bay

I drove The Great Ocean Road  from Lorne to Apollo Bay

....44km of heartachingly beautiful views.

I found my new favourite colour....emerald green....

I especially love when it is laid next to rich inky indigo....

but then I also love emerald-turquoise....

and I've always had a 'thing' for ultramarine.....

and cobalt....

a cobalt-blue sky to die for

the trip was an incredibly slow one because I kept stopping to take photos,

and gasp at the views,

and marvel at the breathtaking palette of blues....

aquas....

and greens....

and did I mention cerulean....

yep, just like in The Devil Wears Prada

and pthalo-turquoise.....

astonishing,astonishing colours, astonishing views.

anyone down there want to swap houses for a while?   :)

not a 'darndest-face'.....

detail
Jo-Ann Hunt©

Kids faces show their emotions.

as the saying goes, kids make the darndest faces...or should that be 'say the

darndest things?....  not to worry....it's my blog!

but often it is the opposite of  a darndest-face  that gets me...

that inscrutableness....

that moment of blankness,

that 'duh-moment' that flickers across the face of a six year-old.

when I looked at these Little Nippers,

and at their little faces .....

....I could hear their nicknames being shouted above the sound of the waves....

can you work out who is who?
